Justice League - A Halfhearted Masterpiece

Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Flash (Ezra Miller) in one big screen seems to be utterly exciting. If you are a comic book fan, you have many reasons to watch this movie. You may have waited till now to watch the clash between the League and the larger-than-life, taller than the tallest super villain Steppenwolf. Justice League is this year's most anticipated movie as this film will decide the fate of DC Extended Universe which was recovering its wounds after the Batman V Superman debacle although I liked it. Wonder Woman was a brilliant movie which gave Warner Bros and DC Extended Universe the much-needed boost but when it comes to Justice League, it failed to live up to its mammoth expectation.

The beginning looks promising but suddenly it slows down a bit although it takes a marvelous pace after 40 minutes still it lacks the punch at the end. The real fun happens just before the intermission and you will hate to walk out to grab those popcorns especially in case of this movie. Justice League has many heroes but they don't look powerful enough to tackle Steppenwolf and his army of parademons that's where the challenge lies. There are few knockout moments in the movie that never fall out of place. When you go to watch such great movies of our times, you are well prepared with the basics hence you won't miss out the fun if you have seen Batman V Superman and Wonder Woman.

Justice League is brighter and colorful than Snyder's previous movies but the element of darkness, the epitome of DC movies is still prevalent from the very first scene. Critics, as usual, are not very fond of the DC Universe, however, Wonder Woman got positive reviews because it had the appeal to transcend the boundaries of the comic book universe through its feminist appeal but Justice League again failed to impress the critics as I could see 37% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

This time, critics are right maybe because we have expected bigger things from this movie but I won't defend this movie now because I did that after Batman V Superman and haters won't stop criticizing Snyder movies. Justice League is a half-hearted masterpiece because it failed to kill it with a punch. The much-needed thump at the end that would have given goosebumps moments to the audience is missing. There was an element of hurriedness towards the end. Still, Justice League besides all its shortcomings will blow your mind with its never seen before action sequences, humor, and heroism.

Ezra Miller is surely the heart of the movie and Jason Momoa - the crowd puller. You will love them for sure. The others are just fine but there are surprises that will make you jump off your seat in excitement. Prepare yourself for a joyride as Justice League is here and it will eventually break all box office records within no time.

PS: It’s better than The Avengers.
